A Feather in My Lopsided Cap
October was a month of tournaments for me. I spent part of last week at my first regional tournament and a few weeks ago I played in my first sectional. I managed to come away from the sectional with some silver MPs and a first place finish followed rather quickly by a last place one. At the regional I gained a few red MPs and I scored a “Regional Winner” glass. Even better, I made lots of contacts for future tournaments, including perhaps a return to this same event next year.
Of course, upon returning to my regular club on Wednesday night (and telling my teacher and my regular partner this), I played like a moron. Consistency continues to allude me at every turn. On Sunday afternoon I managed to come in second. Yesterday afternoon I came in middle of the road and last night I managed to come in first with a 65% game (a mere *cough* 10% less than the game my partner had with someone else while I was away playing bridge in Amish country). I have with this glut of playing reached 20 MPs and the title of “Club Master Weenie” so there’s something.
Unrelated, and thereby being of far more interest to most, I need to remember to stop by Barnes & Noble and buy this month’s issue of Playboy. I doubt that it will be a “collector’s edition” in that it will actually accrue value, but it is Marge Simpson and while she’s not quite as hot as Bugs Bunny in drag, she’s still pretty darn cute.
